This vending machine sells nothing but the famous Sriracha sauce. I guess
this sauce is so good that you don't need anything else. Coincidentally,
when I was checking out the machine from closer, someone walked up to me
and started to insert coins. I was very surprised, because I've never seen
anyone use one of these more unusual vending machines. It turns out that
the person who came up there wanted to treat me to one of those without me
realising. Once he realised that it cost 700 yen, he said he doesn't have
that much change on him. We talked a bit and then went our separate ways.
Only after that did I realise what he was trying to do. It felt really
nice that a complete stranger would offer to do that randomly. I also felt
a bit embarassed for not being able to read the situation quicker and not
thanking him properly for offering.
この自販機は有名なシラチャ・ソースだけ売っている。多分このソースはそんなに良くて、買ったら他のものは何もいらないんだ。自販機を近く見ている時は他人が近づいて、コインを入れ始めた。その前に珍しい自販機数台見かけたのに、一度も誰か買うのを見たことなかったから、驚いた。実は私気づかないで、彼は私をおごろうとした。でも、多分、彼が気づかなかったことはこの自販機は普通の自販機じゃなくて、シラチャの自販機だったことだ。シラチャ・ソース一本は７００円で、持っているコイン足りないと言っていた。その後ちょっと世間話をして、別れの挨拶した。数分後でようやくおごろうとしたことに気づいた。他人がそんな普通におごろうとしたからいい気持ちだったけど、空気を読めなかったから恥ずかしかった。きちんと感謝した方がよかったのに。
