While on one of them they are very small, both of these photos contain vending machines. This is the Ashigezaki tenbōdai Observatory, which was the main reason we visited Hachinohe. I clicked on it more or less by chance on google maps, but looking at the pictures, it reminded me of a location in a manga I read once. According to the story, the place is supposed to be in Hokkaido, so I'm not sure if the two have anything to do with each other. At the very least the place in the story could have been inspired by a place similar to this.
As a bonus, I thought these vending machines looked nice and a bit lonely on the side of the road.
And as a second bonus here is another vending machine with the Kabushima shrine on a tiny peninsula in the background.
