Our first day in Hiroshima, we went on a small trek near the station to pass the time until we could check into our hotels. At the beginning of the more hilly part there were still houses. I really like the atmosphere of hill towns, so the vending machine on the photo was the cherry on top. It is tucked away in a little corner next to the stairs. However looking at it a little more it becomes apparent that it isn't in the public space. While vending machines are often placed in locations such as offices which aren't open for the general public, for me the location gave off the impression that it would be in the public space, so I got a little dissonance from the realisation. There is very limited space around the machine which adds to the weirdness a little bit. Checking on google maps, the building it belongs to seems to be a wedding venue, so my guess would be that this is a back entrance for employees or maybe a designated smoking place, and so the machine would be meant for those people who would use the back entrance.
Red vending machine to go with the red firetrucks.
