On our second day, we travelled from Tokyo to Kyoto, and continuing with the theme of vending machines and shrines/temples together, I've chosen this photo as the vending machine of the day. It is near the Hokan-ji / Yasaka pagoda, and fits nicely in frame together.
The bonus vending machine for this day is not that visually interesting, but I wanted to include it because it sells alcohol. My little sister who was 18 years old at the time couldn't legally drink in Japan, where the drinking age is 20, blocking out some activities. I found it mildly funny, that at the same time, alcohol is available from vending machines, where an age check is easy to bypass. Looking into it, modern machines require some form of ID, but there still are older ones out there which don't. Unfortunately we didn't try the ones on the photo, so I'm not sure which type they are.
